I Remain Still - Poem

Thunder and lightning shatters the silence of the night: I remain still.

The sound of gunfire from battles near at hand; I remain still.

Arctic chills freeze the ground beneath; I remain still.

Torrential rains flood the waterways; I remain still.

Raging bush fires burn under the scorching summer sun; I remain still.

The glowing Sun in cloudless blue skies; I remain still.

I hear your sweet voice near; my heart quickens its beat.

You speak my name soft and tenderly; a subtle smile masks my glee.

Gazing into your obsidian eyes, your smile beneath; my soul is elated.
